Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Pittsburgh City Council commends John McIntire for his years of insight, warmth and entertainment and declares October 17th, 2003 John McIntire Day in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, John McIntire has hosted NightTalk for Mr. and Mrs. Picksburgh and all the ships at sea for the past seven years from high atop television hill and your PCNC studios; and

 

WHEREAS, John McIntire has covered politics extensively, reporting from the 1996 and 1992 Democratic Conventions and the 1984 Iowa Caucuses, as well as interviewing Senator Rick Santorum for the full hour as the U.S. Senate was about to begin impeachment proceedings; and

 

WHEREAS, John McIntire has conducted notable celebrity interviews with Tonight Show host Jay Leno, actor Michael Douglas, American legend Hugh Hefner, vixen Jenny McCarthy, actress Courtney Cox and vixen Jon Delano; and

 

WHEREAS, John McIntire's humor has sustained NightTalk on the under-watched PCNC since 1996, surviving through one impeachment, one stolen election, one City of Pittsburgh financial crisis, and three Bill Green kidneys; and

 

WHEREAS, Diana Wentz, Chris Potter and Bill Green will now have to find out what the rest of the world does on Friday nights; and

 

WHEREAS, the departure of John McIntire from NightTalk will create an unfillable void that will leave his faithful viewers without a home every night, except Saturdays, at 9 p.m.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Pittsburgh City Council commends John McIntire for his years of insight, warmth and entertainment and declares October 17th, 2003 John McIntire Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
