Whereas, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is our city's world-class vintage racing event; and
Whereas, the Grand Prix includes a race through beautiful Schenley Park this week-end, as well as 10 exciting days of car shows, races, and parties throughout the city; and
Whereas, the funds raised by this wonderful event benefit developmentally disabled individuals at the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley School; and
Whereas, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix holds the dual distinction of America's largest vintage race event and the only one that's raced on city streets; and
Whereas, we honor Daniel DelBianco, Executive Director of the Grand Prix and Don Brown, Government Liasion for the Grand Prix, as well as Dan Torisky of the Autism Society of Pittsburgh for their work on behalf of this great event; and
Whereas, we celebrate the absolute joy and freedom of riding in a cherished sports car; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares July 11, 2006 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Day and honors the organizers of this premier summer event for providing a venue for vintage auto enthusiasts to celebrate their passion while raising funds for developmentally disabled people in our community.
