WHEREAS, 2008 marks the Tenth anniversary of the Langley High School Alumni Association; and
WHEREAS, in 1998 under the leadership of Jean (Graham) Rose, programs were established that include a quarterly newsletter, three $1,000 scholarships awarded yearly to eligible seniors perusing higher education, with a fourth offered jointly by the Langley High School Alumni Association and the Tri-Valley Services FCU; and
WHEREAS, in 2002 work began to incorporate the association as a nonprofit corporation and after two years they received federal recognition, allowing donations to the scholarship fund to be tax-exempt; and
WHEREAS, in ten years the Alumni Association has grown from 250 to over 1,400 members with a mailing list in the thousands; and
WHEREAS, members of Langley High School Alumni Association are eligible to join the Tri-Valley Services Federal Credit Union and can receive discounts at many area businesses.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates the Langley High School Alumni Association and wishes it many more years of commitment to Langley High School students and the community.
