WHEREAS, Your Sister's Project, Inc will hold their Black History Celebration Saturday, February 18, 2006 at the Kingsley Association in East Liberty; and
WHEREAS, Black History Month is the reaffirmation of struggle and determination to change our attitudes and to elevate the understanding of the entire American experience; and
WHEREAS, as we celebrate this years theme in the City of Pittsburgh: The Souls of Black Folks: Centennial Reflection, we will remember the success and challenges of our past, present and future-perfect; and
WHEREAS, Your Sister's Project, Inc. will celebrate Black History Month by holding a Black History Contest for our youth so that they too, will understand that we have a wonderful history behind us and ahead of us; and
WHEREAS, Your Sister's Project, Inc. will present and acknowledge community leaders who have demonstrated visionary and leadership in the City of Pittsburgh: and
WHEREAS, Your Sister's Project, Inc. and the City of Pittsburgh will reflect a proud legacy of courage, and dedication that has help guide our city's success and prosperity.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council in the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends Your Sister's Project Inc. for their efforts to reduce the prevalence of violence here in the City of Pittsburgh and throughout Allegheny County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh, declares Saturday, February 18, 2006 "a Black History Celebration, Past, Present and Future-Perfect" Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
