Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday September 14, 2004 as "Brian Batko Day" here in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Brian Batko is a senior at Central Catholic High School; and,

 

WHEREAS, Brian qualified to attend the "National First Tee Open" that was held in Pebble Beach, California over the 2004 Labor Day Weekend; and,

 

WHEREAS, In order to qualify Brian participated in a nationwide First Tee Tournament that was held in Kansas on July 23, 2004.  The tournament consisted of a 36 hole play-off, written essays, volunteerism, interviews with the tournaments staff and overall decorum on and off the golf course; and,

 

WHEREAS, out of the 81 semi-finalists, Brian was chosen with only 19 others as a finalist to attend this prestigious National Tournament; and,

 

WHEREAS, during the event, Brian and other finalists were paired up with famous golfers including Arnold Palmer, Tom Kite, Lee Trevino and a host of others; and,

 

WHEREAS, the event was televised on September 3rd and 4th on the Golf Channel.  Out of the 78 "Juniors" matched with the 78 "Seniors" – the lowest scoring 22 "Junior" and "Senior" teams played in a televised match on Sunday September 5th on NBC.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby Congratulate Brian Batko on his tremendous accomplishment; and,
