WHEREAS, Elder Ronald Golden was born February 9, 1948 in Lakeland, Florida and graduated from Waterloo Central High School where he ran track. He then attended and graduated from State University of New York Agricultural and Technical College at Alfred. Ronald was a successful banker, business mentor, and advisor to churches. He served as Senior Vice President of HSBC Financial Institution. While at HSBC, he established the bank’s first loan program for Black churches, addressing equity and inclusion as it pertained to access to capital and credit. Service to others was his love language and his ministry and,
WHEREAS, During his lifetime, Ron had a fervent heart for the Lord and the community. In his spiritual walk, Ron served as servant leader at Full Gospel Tabernacle and New Life Fellowship of Rochester, and finally at Central Baptist Church of Pittsburgh PA. During his spiritual walk he served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher. In addition to his religious service, Ronald served his community through philanthropy and board service in the following roles: the Lion’s Club as president, William Warfield Scholarship Fund as president; Baden Street Settlement and Hillside Family of Agencies and,
WHEREAS, A loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and neighbor, Ron leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Cecilia Griffin Golden, PhD, 5 children: Tonia (Tony) Bowers, Renalda “Reenah” Golden, Adam Golden, Chaton Turner and Jeryn Turner, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare the Dec. 5th, 2025, to be “Elder Ronald A. Golden Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
