WHEREAS, Georgia Petropoulos is the proud daughter of Greek immigrant parents; and,

WHEREAS, Georgia received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and earned a Master's degree in architecture from Washington University in St. Louis; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia also completed executive training at the Center for Creative Leadership in San Diego, California, and graduated from the Leadership Pittsburgh program, further sharpening her leadership skills and bolstering her capacity to impact the community; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia has dedicated the last two decades of her career to improving Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia has served as the CEO of the Oakland Business Improvement District (OBID) for 20 years, where she has demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to inclusive community development; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia's tenure as OBID's chief executive has united Oakland's diverse sectors: government, business, education, medical care, arts, culture, and more; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia's leadership acumen and architectural background were also critical to the formation and success of the Innovation Oakland and Oakland for All initiatives, respectively; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia's community activism goes well beyond her role with OBID, evidenced by her service on the boards of UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside Hospital, the Oakland Transportation and Management Association, the City-County Task Force on Disabilities, Community Human Services, and, most recently, as the Chair of the Urban Land Institute's Pittsburgh Chapter; and
WHEREAS, Georgia's dedication to these organizations reflects her commitment to improving the quality of life in her community; and,
WHEREAS, Georgia is renowned for her ability to forge partnerships that evolve into lasting friendships, aligning diverse stakeholders towards common goals.
