WHEREAS, Sota Construction Services is a leading regional provider of sophisticated, cost effective, total quality construction services that takes pride in their commitment to personal attention, open communication, continuous process improvement, commitment to sustainability and value engineering; and
WHEREAS, Sota Construction has now built the region's first net-zero energy home at 1820 Merriman Way, on the City's South Side; and
WHEREAS, to achieve net-zero energy, the home generates as much power as it uses on an annual basis through a variety of green building technologies, including, an 8,000 watt photovoltaic array mounted on its roof; and
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh has long been a leader in green buildings, this newest addition to the City's green building portfolio is a testament that both public and private interests continue to challenge the boundaries of what's possible and achievable locally in terms of energy and resource efficiency.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, congratulate and commend Ernie Sota and Sota Construction for its vision and foresight in bringing the region's first net-zero energy home to the City of Pittsburgh.
