WHEREAS, after finishing the 2004 softball season with a 17 - 3 record and narrowly losing the City League Championship to Carrick, the Brashear High School Lady Bulls softball team began the 2005 season with renewed determination; and
WHEREAS, this focus resulted in a perfect season with pitcher Jessica Cullum leading the Bulls to a 1 - 0 victory over the Allderdice Dragons in the City League championship game at McGibbney Field for their first City League title in the past eight years and the opportunity to advance to the PIAA state playoffs; and
WHEREAS, the 2005 Brashear Lady Bulls softball team consists of seniors Brittany Lewandowski, Amanda Palmer, Amy Schwartz, Ashley Schwartz and Jamie Twigg; juniors Ashley Becher and Jessica Cullum; sophomores Amanda Baker, Krista Bradley, Kayla Crooks, Alexandra Eberle, Jessica Kolb, Blaze Laboon, Lyndsey Nusser and Brittany Sexton; and freshmen Jacquelyn Florian, Chelsea Maggs, Christina Mizer, and Alecia Schwartz; and
WHEREAS, the adults who motivated these young women to excel are coaches Patricia Adams, Hank Hogle and Chris Wolski, supported by Athletic Director James Daugherty and Principal Dr. Ruthane Reginella;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes and commends the Brashear Lady Bulls softball team for their drive, energy and team work, and congratulates them on their achievement on the diamond as the 2005 City League Champions.
