Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Patricia Zinger; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, September 20, 2025 to be "Patricia Zinger Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, Mrs. Patricia Zinger grew up in Brookline and lived there until she got married in 1980. She lived in Carnegie for the first 40 years of her marriage and moved to Bridgeville in 2020; and,

 

WHEREAS, Patricia attended Brookline Elementary School (K-8) and then South Hills High School. Patricia went on to continue her education and received her undergrad degree from Grove City College. Later she received her Master’s degree from The University of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, Patricia spent her entire teaching career at Beechwood Elementary School which is unusual for a teacher to be at the same school for an entire career. Because Patricia wanted to stay, she taught whatever class was available. This includes reaching 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th,5th,7th and 8th grades; and,

 

WHEREAS, Patricia taught second grade most of the time but also served as an Instructional Teacher Leader which was like being a Vice Principal while being involved in observing other teachers; and,

 

WHEREAS, having spent her entire career in the same school Patricia had the blessing of teaching a few children of former students. Patricia is lucky to have met so many wonderful people including the wonderful parents, students, grandparents and community leaders in Beechview; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Patricia Zinger; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, September 20, 2025 to be Patricia Zinger Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
