WHEREAS, the North Side Industrial Development Company ("NSIDC") has received a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") to conduct environmental assessments on brownfield sites with the potential for contamination; and

WHEREAS, with such grant funding, NSIDC has offered to conduct Phase II Environmental Assessments at two City-owned former gas station sites located at 700 Herron Avenue (Lot and Block 26-N-24) and 3300 Webster Avenue (Lot and Block (26-N-059), which would include, inter alia, preparing a Sampling and Analysis Plan; conducting asbestos sampling and soil and groundwater sampling; and removing any underground storage tanks and replacing them with clean fill (collectively, the "Assessment Work"); and

WHEREAS, NSIDC has engaged a consultant, Collective Efforts, LLC, a civil and environmental engineering firm, to perform the Assessment Work; and

WHEREAS, the cost of the Assessment Work will be One Hundred Twenty-Four Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($124,500.00), which costs will all be covered by the EPA grant and at no cost to the City; and

WHEREAS, completion of these remediation efforts will position these sites for future reuse, which will benefit the City and the public; and
