Body
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh is honored to host the 3rd Annual Poe Family Reunion on the weekend of July 14th through July 16th, 2006; and

WHEREAS, the Poe family set down roots and prospered all over the nation, which is illustrated by the fact that there are over 100 guests expected at the reunion coming from Cleveland, Chicago, New York City, Atlanta, Omaha, and Alabama to enjoy time with their family in the City of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, the Poe genealogy has been recorded with remarkable detail back to 1843 when the patriarch John Poe was born.  This history tells an amazing story of a family that overcame many hardships, including racism in the South immediately following the Civil War, the structural poverty of the sharecropping system, and the great physical distance placed between family members as some moved away in search of a better life; and

WHEREAS, this reunion will allow the Poe family to reconnect with relatives and friends and meet new ones as they attend a reception on July 14th and a banquet on July 15th at the Radison Hotel in Monroeville, and all will have the opportunity to pray together on July 16th at the Sixth Mount Zion Church in Pittsburgh.
