WHEREAS, the Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank in Scouting of which only 4 percent of youth earn and is based on performances in the areas of responsibility, leadership, service and outdoor skills; and,
WHEREAS, Jeffrey M. Lang achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Eagle Scout Court of Honor Troop 66 held at the American Legion Hall in Sheraden; and,
WHEREAS, for his final project to obtain Eagle Scout, Jeffrey organized an energetic group of scouts and volunteers to build shelves, plaster walls, add lattice work, repair doors and paint the pre-school area at The First Presbyterian Church of Crafton Heights; and,
WHEREAS, Jeffrey is currently in Boy Scout Troop 66 of the Greater Pittsburgh Council where he has served as Librarian, Quartermaster, Senior Patrol Leader and Jr. Assistant Scoutmaster and participated at summer camp and meetings and he continues to help the younger scouts obtain the knowledge needed for the basic skills of scouting; and,
WHEREAS, while pursuing his Eagle Scout achievement, Jeffrey worked very hard to balance his challenging academic schedule while participating in Robotics and with the ACE Mentor Program; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate Eagle Scout Jeffrey Lang for his outstanding achievement of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, May 15, 2016, to be “Jeffrey M. Lang Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
