WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh is honored to recognize those who dedicated their lives in service to this country, contribute to the betterment of our city and its residents, and stand proudly as a symbol of bravery and courage that serves to inspire us all; and,
WHEREAS, The Korean War Veterans of Western Pennsylvania Inc. was established in 1992, to assist and foster comradeship among those men and women who served in the Korean War; and,
WHEREAS, this nonprofit organization seeks to promote the common good and general welfare of the community, as well as the Korean War Veteran community in particular; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to promoting programs, assisting veterans, and participating in a number of other civic activities, the Korean War Veterans of Western Pennsylvania also pay tribute to recognize all those who did not return home from the war; and,
WHEREAS, this organization stands as a symbol to raise and encourage public awareness of the Korean War and all who served in it; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does recognize and congratulate The Korean War Veterans of Western Pennsylvania Inc. for all they have done for veterans, the community, and the City of Pittsburgh; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, May 6th, 2014, to be Korean War Veterans Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
