Body
WHEREAS, Colteryahn Dairy, founded in 1917 on its present site on Brownsville Road in the neighborhood of Carrick, is in its fourth generation of the Colteryahn family, which dates its rich history in Pittsburgh back to William Colteryahn's arrival from Hamburg, Germany in the 1870s; and

WHEREAS, Colteryahn Dairy began 94 years ago as a home-delivery milk bottler, and with the rise of refrigeration and a consumer shift to grocery stores that threatened many other similar dairy enterprises at the time, the Carrick-based business was able to adapt by changing its focus to packaged products and the launching of its convenience stores Stop-N-Go, now known as CoGo's; and

WHEREAS, Colteryahn Dairy's line of products includes milk and cream, dips, yogurt, cottage cheese, egg nog, soft serve ice cream, juices, and a range of iced teas; and

WHEREAS, Colteryahn Dairy, a state-of-the-art facility featured in Dairy Foods Magazine, is the only operating milk processing plant located within Pittsburgh City limits, supplied by local dairy farmers who have pledged not to treat their cows with synthetic growth hormones; and

WHEREAS, Colteryahn Dairy was recognized at the 2012 All Star Dairy Association convention on March 5, 2012 with the Small Dairy of the Year Award.
