WHEREAS, Allegheny Land Trust has been serving the citizens and ecosystems of Allegheny County for more than 20 years, conserving nature so that it may be better used to fulfill the quintessential scenic, economic, and recreational goals of local residents; and,
WHEREAS, Pittsburgh is fortunate to have Allegheny Land Trust safeguarding our environment and supporting the many communities that inhabit it; and,
WHEREAS, Allegheny Land Trust has protected more than 1,700 acres of land throughout Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, equal to the size of more than 1,500 football fields, including in excess of 765,000 trees; and,
WHEREAS, Allegheny Land Trust will be hosting a fundraiser entitled Come Fly with Me on Saturday, November 22, beginning at 6:00pm at The National Aviary, featuring a live performance from Jessica Lee, recognition of many great conservation efforts taking place in Allegheny County, interactive exhibits, and much more; and,
WHEREAS, funds raised by this event will facilitate the growth of the many high-quality services and programs offered by Allegheny Land Trust to the residents of Pittsburgh and its surrounding neighborhoods.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Allegheny Land Trust for 20 years of land conservation excellence; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 22, 2014 to be "Allegheny Land Trust Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
