WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel E. Criswell, owners of Coston Funeral Home is celebrated 43 year of business in the East Liberty community at the "Society for Contemporary Craft" in Pittsburgh's Strip District; and
WHEREAS, Roland Criswell presently serves as the Owner and Operator of the Samuel E. Coston Funeral Home Inc. He is a licensed Funeral Director and manages all day-to-day operations along with directing funerals and handling at-need and pre-need arrangements; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Criswell is the grandson of Samuel and Wanda Coston, the original owners of the funeral business, which was established in 1963. His mission as a Funeral Director is to provide ministry to the bereaved, support the community and to provide service with integrity. Mr. Criswell is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science with a Diploma in Embalming and Funeral Directing; and
WHEREAS, Bethany Criswell, a native of Buffalo, N.Y. is the daughter of Jerry and Cassandra McClam. She presently serves as the Director of Communications at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in East Liberty. She is the editor-in-chief of The Mount, a quarterly Christian magazine; and
WHEREAS, prior to joining the staff at Mount Ararat Baptist Church, Mrs. Criswell served as the Sports Information Director at Carnegie Mellon University from 2000-2003, being the first African American to hold this position at the University.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Mr. Roland Criswell and Mrs. Bethany Criswell for their dedicated services to our community and the City of Pittsburgh.
