Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Amen Corner for its good work and for recognizing Victoria Berdnik as an outstanding leader in the community and to the Amen Corner; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, December 3, 2009, to be “VICTORIA BERNDIK DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Amen Corner is a prestigious organization which has been a Pittsburgh tradition since 1870 and whose purpose is to engender camaraderie, fraternity and relationships amongst people of all walks of life; and,
 
WHEREAS,  this year, at the 139th  Annual Amen Corner Holiday Reception, the Amen Corner Board of Governors is honoring outgoing President Victoria L. Berdnick, Real Estate Coordinator for LAMAR Outdoor Advertising, who has provided leadership to the Board of Governors for the past two years; and,
 
WHEREAS, Victoria Berdnick, lifelong resident of the Observatory Hill section of the City of Pittsburgh, dedicates considerable personal time and resources to more than 25 local charitable organizations including serving as board member of the Pittsburgh Regatta, the Animal Care and Assistance Fund, and the CORO Center for Civic Leadership; and,
 
WHEREAS, Victoria Berdnick has been honored as a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's 50 Finest, Pittsburgh Community Champion, Jefferson Award nominee, ATHENA Award nominee, and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society "Women of the Year" nominee.
