WHEREAS, Becky Mingo has served as the Executive Director of Friendship Development Associates, Inc. (FDA) for the past eleven years; and
WHEREAS, the FDA was founded in 1989 as a community development corporation that uses place-based real estate development strategies to bring about lasting beneficial market change in unstable real estate markets; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Mingo has played a crucial role in enabling the FDA to leverage more than $15 million in private homeowner investment and to facilitate the success of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh's Housing Recovery Program; and
WHEREAS, under Ms. Mingo's leadership the FDA paired with the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation to create the Penn Avenue Arts Initiative, bringing in over $6.4 million dollars since its creation in 1998; and
WHEREAS, during Ms. Mingo's tenure, the FDA received a Fannie Mae Foundation Maxwell Award for Excellence in the category for homeownership in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Mingo, her husband, Dutch MacDonald, and their two children are important community members of Friendship and the City of Pittsburgh who will continue to contribute to the area for years to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby commends and thanks Becky Mingo for all the great work she has done for her community and the Friendship Development Associates, Inc.; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares November 28, 2006, "Becky Mingo Day", in the City of Pittsburgh.
