WHEREAS, Aileen Wilson has been volunteering at the Elder-ado's Knoxville center for over 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Wilson, who is more than 90 years old herself, serves meals Monday through Wednesday, for about 6 hours a day, 18 hours a week, each and every week of the year for a total of over 500 hours a year; and
WHEREAS, she receives the meals from the vendor and then bags and assembles those that go out for home delivery and then serves the meals to the seniors at the Elder-ado Knoxville center and then she cleans the kitchen and prepares for the next day's program; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Wilson often helps those who need assistance in carrying their meals to their seats or if someone is on a special diet and needs a particular item, she will purchase it for them when she does her Saturday shopping in the Strip; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her work at Elder-ado, Mrs. Wilson has served as a reading mentor to Kindergarten and First Grade students for the past 10 years at the Phillip Murray and Quentin Roosevelt schools for 2 hours each day and both the teachers and students would love for her to stay all day; and
WHEREAS, Aileen Wilson received the 2010 Outstanding Volunteer award from the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Allegheny County which is given each year as an example of what senior volunteers can do.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, congratulate and commend Aileen Wilson for all that she does to improve her neighborhood and the lives of those she touches each day and congratulates her for receiving the RSVP Outstanding Volunteer award in 2010.
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does, hereby, declare, Monday, December 20, 2010 to be Aileen Wilson Day in the City of Pittsburgh.
