Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the important milestone of the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh, and does hereby declare Saturday, June 2, 2012, to be “Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh 10th Anniversary Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh, a city with a rich history of architecture, innovation, and industry, continues to connect young people to the individuals, events, and ideas that shape our lives today; and
WHEREAS, the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh is committed to the participation of young people in the preservation of historic resources that emphasize three central work concepts, innovation, quality, and diversity; and
WHEREAS, the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh's motto "Give life to history," highlights the importance of preservation and economic development; and
 
WHEREAS, the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh educates, trains, and inspires a new generation to appreciate their history to pursue community improvement endeavors by being an active part of the preservation of historic sites; and
 
WHEREAS, the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh makes a difference in the lives of young people by providing them with the skills, experience, and confidence to shape a better future in their neighborhoods; and
 
WHEREAS, on Saturday, June 2, 2012, the Young Preservationists Association of Pittsburgh gathered at the Union Project in Highland Park, a building and institution that demonstrates one of the most successful adaptive reuses in Pittsburgh, to celebrate its tenth anniversary event titled, "Ignite the Next Generation of Preservations Leaders," where it will release its annual report on the top ten preservation opportunities in the Pittsburgh area;
