Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Bob Pajak on his role in Interscholastic Sports in the School District of Pittsburgh. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday April 20, 2004, to be "Bob Pajak Day" here in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Bob Pajak graduated from Allderdice High School in 1964 where he excelled in baseball and after high school he went and to play for Slippery Rock University ; and,
 
      WHEREAS, he taught physical education at Phillips and Minandeo Elementary Schools before becoming supervisor in health and physical education for the Pittsburgh School District in 1982; and,
 
      WHEREAS, in 1993 he became manager of Interscholastic Athletics for the Pittsburgh School District where he was responsible for 11 boys and 9 girls sports at the districts high schools and for 7 boys and 6 girls sports in the districts 17 middle schools; and,
 
      WHEREAS, during his tenure championship games were moved to major arenas and stadiums such as Fitzgerald Field House, Heinz Field and PNC Park; and,
 
      WHEREAS, he was instrumental in seeing that South Stadium was renamed George Cupples Stadium as well as being the major force behind the renovations recently made at the stadium; and,
 
      WHEREAS, he handled his role with attention to organization and detail and displayed a professionalism that earned the respect of players, coaches, officials and fans.
