Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh has cultivated many relationships with international visitors and government officials across the country and around the world; and,
Whereas, those relationships help build mutual understanding and trust through the exchange of ideas in education, industry, culture, and politics; and,
Whereas, by connecting with our fellow global citizens we find that we share many of the same challenges and have many of the same goals; and,
Whereas, the World Affairs Council has promoted a non-partisan understanding of international events for over 77 years and has been instrumental in connecting Pittsburgh to the global community; and,
Whereas, the Republic of Georgia has designated Mahnaz Harrison as the Honorary Consul for Georgia in Pennsylvania, who has worked tirelessly to strengthen relations between Georgia and the Pittsburgh region; and,
Whereas, we are privileged to welcome to Pittsburgh His Excellency Vasil Sikharulidze, Ambassador of Georgia to the United States, Canada, and Mexico; and,
Whereas, His Excellency has served his country honorably as the First Deputy Minister of Defense, Undersecretary of the National Security Council of Georgia, and head of the NATO division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia;

Now, therefore be it resolved, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh is pleased to host this distinguished international visitor as he travels through our City;
And be it further resolved, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and welcome His Excellency Vasil Sikharulidze to our region and is grateful to Honorary Consul Mahnaz Harrison, the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, the Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors, and the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh for arranging his visit.
