WHEREAS, Russell W. Porter, Jr. will be honored at the 2003 University of Pittsburgh School of Law Alumni Dinner & Reunion On Saturday, October 18, 2003 ; and
WHEREAS, Russell W. Porter received a B.S. degree from Colorado State University in 1969 and a J.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1972; and
WHEREAS, attorney Porter is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Allegheny Bar Associations; and
WHEREAS, Russell W. Porter, Jr. is vice president, deputy general counsel as well as Pittsburgh Location Manager of Alcoa; and
WHEREAS, attorney Porter has the overall responsibility for Alcoa's North American legal matters and continues to have accountability for Litigation, including managing Alcoa's retention agreement with outside counsel; and
WHEREAS, Russell W. Porter, Jr. Esquire's legal career began with Alcoa in 1972, was promoted to general attorney in 1977, then managing general attorney in 1983, assistant general counsel for Alcoa from 1989 to 1992 and again in 1994 until being named senior assistant general counsel in 1999, and deputy general counsel in 2000.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates Russell W. Porter Jr. Esq., on receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law Development & Alumni Affairs and declares October 18, 2003 "Attorney Russell Porter Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
