WHEREAS, the 16th annual Comcast Cares Day will be held on Saturday, April 22nd and has become the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer event; and,
WHEREAS, giving back where employees live and work was important to Comcast’s founder, Ralph Roberts, and he made sure that commitment to community rang true throughout Comcast; and,
WHEREAS, in 2016, more than 100,000 volunteers improved more than 900 parks, schools, beaches, senior centers and other vital community sites in 21 countries; and,
WHEREAS, volunteering together helps employees build connections with the community in which they work and enhances leadership skills, which is an asset to any organization; and,
WHEREAS, this Saturday, one of the locations that Comcast will be supporting is The Education Partnership on Corliss Street, which obtained the largest Comcast Foundation Grant in Western PA last year; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and recognize Comcast and its employees for its dedicated service to our communities; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, April 22, 2017 to be “Comcast Cares Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
