Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognize and commends Monty Meza-Clay for showing us the true heart of a champion and we wish him nothing but success in all of his future endeavors.

WHEREAS, on December 30th, 2005 Monty Meza-Clay earned an unanimous decision against Shamir Reyes, winning the International Boxing Association World Super Featherweight Boxing Title; and
 
WHEREAS, Monty, twenty-one years of age, was born in Pittsburgh and  raised in Washington D.C., and at the age of twelve moved to the Rankin, PA  and graduated from Woodland Hills High School; and
 
WHEREAS, Monty has been boxing for over nine years with a record of 19-0 with 12 knockouts; and
 
WHEREAS, Monty has overcome hurdles that leave many of our young brothers and sisters behind bars; and
 
WHEREAS, his success in boxing should stand as a shining example to young people here at home and abroad.
