WHEREAS, Maddux Achilles Haggard was born on Feb. 4, 2005 with Myotubular Myopathy that prevented him from breathing, swallowing or moving on his own. To preserve the memories of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Haggard called photographer Sandy Puc'; and,
WHEREAS, those priceless photographs opened the door for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS), which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Cheryl Haggard and Sandy Puc' in April, 2005; and,
WHEREAS, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep aids in the healing process of the loss of a baby by offering gentle and beautiful photography and DVD services in a compassionate and sensitive manner while in the hospital; and,
WHEREAS, the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation has a network of almost 7,000 volunteer photographers in the United States and twenty-five countries; and,
WHEREAS, we recognize Cheryl Haggard and Sandy Puc' for their unselfish and priceless service provided to families; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Cheryl Haggard and Sandy Puc'; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 15, 2009, to be "The Day We Cherish Life" in the City of Pittsburgh.
