WHEREAS, the Duane Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund (DWMSF), a non-profit charitable organization, will be hosting their 5th annual Golf outing on July 20, 2019 at the Black Hawk Golf Course in Beaver Falls PA ; and,
WHEREAS, the Scholarship fund was a dream of Mr. Merrill Holt, who wanted to help young folks continue their education. Mr. Holt named the fund after his good friend, the late Duane Williams, who had a big heart and a love for children; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of the fund is to provide scholarships to deserving graduating high school seniors enrolled in public or private school with a GPA of at least 2.75, in order to assist with the cost of higher education; and,
WHEREAS, since its establishment five years ago, the fund has awarded between $2,000-$2,500 each year, making a difference in the lives of students within the Greater Pittsburgh area; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Duane Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund founders, family and friends, for their commitment to helping to provide our youth with a better future; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, July 13, 2019 to be “Duane Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
