Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Mark Schneider for an exemplary career of 33 years dedicated to the health and welfare of the citizens of the City of Pittsburgh and congratulates him on his retirement and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday April 25, 2012, to be “MARK SCHNEIDER DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, dedicated to the public's service and the delivery of outstanding emergency health care, Mark Schneider began his public service career as an Emergency Medical Technician and worked his way to the distinguished designation of Paramedic Crew Chief with the City of Pittsburgh EMS; and,
WHEREAS, with a Paramedic Associate Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, Mark Schneider began his medical career with Wolf Ambulance Service and moved to the City EMS, receiving awards and honors over the years, including certification as a Master Diver on the River Rescue Squad, that recognized his exemplary service to the City of Pittsburgh,; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Schneider helped implement the EMS Network to unite EMS employees' organizations throughout the United States in order to improve EMS standards and patient care, collaborated closely with the EMS Administration and Medical Director to educate CETA employees and worked diligently to educate citizen groups. In addition, Mark participated in the Paramedic Exchange Program and was a guest of ambulance services in Dublin, London and Bristol, England and was the first Paramedic to be a guest of Germany; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Schneider has been a Board Member and Chair of the PA Emergency Health Services Council and has been a member, officer and President of the Fraternal Association of Professional Paramedics, the paramedic union made up of 4 locals representing the region's paramedics in contracts and advocacy; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Schneider received the prestigious designation of “Pennsylvania Paramedic of the Year” in 1990 from the PA Emergency Health Council at the 13th Annual EMS Conference in Harrisburg, PA; and,
WHEREAS, Mark Schneider is a family man supported by his devoted wife, Rita, and his children, Steven, Eric, Garrett and Leanna and is also a community advocate who has given his time to the 31st Ward Citizens Council and the 31st Ward Dem...
