Ordinance amending the Pittsburgh Code at Title 6, Conduct, Article III: Dogs Cats and Other animals, by adding a new Section 634.11 to Chapter 634 - Kennels and Catteries, requiring anyone advertising an animal for sale to disclose kennel license and sales license information.

WHEREAS, various governmental bodies require commercial animal breeders to obtain kennel licenses to sell animals; and
WHEREAS, requiring commercial animal breeders to include licensing information in any advertisement for the sale of animals will improve transparency and accountably to consumers; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh deems it advisable for the well-being of the city's residents to require anyone advertising animals for sale within the City of Pittsburgh to disclose all required licenses which the person holds.
The Council of the City of Pittsburgh enacts as follows:
Section 1: Chapter 634 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Pittsburgh is amended to include Section 634.11 as follows:
? 634.11 ADVERTISING OF ANIMAL SALES
Any person and/or legal entity who is required to have a license to sell animals or a kennel license or under this Chapter, the Pennsylvania Dog Law, the Federal Animal Welfare Act, or any other local, county, state or federal law or regulation, and who offers an animal for sale in a newspaper, posting, through the mail, over the internet or through any other form of media advertisement, shall prominently include within the text of any such advertisement the license number, name and address of the licensed person or legal entity, as is filed with the appropriate licensing agency.
Section 2:
All ordinances and code sections and parts of ordinances and code sections in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of any such conflict.
Section 3:
This Ordinance shall be effective upon the Mayor's signature or, if the Mayor does not sign the Ordinance, it shall be effective eleven ...
