WHEREAS, Bob Vavro, Sr. is a lifelong resident of Hazelwood and community activist, known for his family's barbershop located on Second Avenue and admired for his continued dedication to his community; and,
WHEREAS, Bob Vavro, Sr., winner of the Hazelwood Initiative's 2000 volunteer of the year award, landscapes and regularly maintains the gazebo and garden on Second Avenue and Johnston Avenue, which offers a beautiful gathering place for people of all ages to sit and relax.
Be it resolved that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of Public Works and/or Director of Parks and Recreation are hereby authorized to name the Hazelwood gazebo and garden the "Bob Vavro, Sr. Garden" effective July 10th, 2012.
