Body
Whereas, in celebration of National Woman History we honor the Under Authority Theater Group, a small group of women, Marcia Jones- Washington, Cathy Calhoun, Evelyn Missouri, and Bethann Crawford who share the same vision.  That vision is a desire to not let our African American history get lost, and to also try to present this history in a unique way; and

Whereas,  the Under Authority Theater Group's mission is to preserve the memory of African American women whose sacrifices and contributions have made a positive impact on American culture and society; and

Whereas, when it has come to looking at the African American woman's role in fighting against injustice, or being a participant in the civil rights movement it seems the names mentioned are most usually limited to Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, and Harriet Tubman; and

Whereas, while these woman are certainly deserving of the attention given to them so are many other African American women whose sacrifices and contributions have helped to define and redefine America's treatment of people of color; and

Whereas, the Under Authority Theater Group is hoping to present the lives of many of these women to those in the Pittsburgh area, four woman at a time. This has encouraged the Under Authority Theater Group to name their productions "4 Real Woman" in which they recently gave their first performance.
