WHEREAS, the National Senior Games Association (NSGA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the benefits of competitive sports, physical fitness, and active aging for adults aged 50 and older; and,
WHEREAS, the Senior Games promote camaraderie, spirited competition, and healthy, active lifestyles for over 100,000 adults aged 50 and older through Olympic-style athletic events held nationwide; and,
WHEREAS, the Senior Games movement began in 1969 with the first event held in Los Angeles, California, and has since grown nationwide, culminating in the inaugural National Senior Games championship in 1987; and,
WHEREAS, the 2025 National Senior Games, the largest multi-sport championship in the nation for adults 50 and over, were held in Des Moines, Iowa, from July 24 to August 4, featuring more than 20 sports and drawing thousands of athletes from across the country; and,
WHEREAS, among the many outstanding athletes and teams competing, the women's 60 and over softball team named 50 Cent, proudly representing Pittsburgh, distinguished themselves by winning first place in their division, prevailing over nine other top-tier teams from across the nation; and,
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh team's victory not only showcases their athletic skill, determination, and teamwork, but also brings great pride and recognition to the City of Pittsburgh and its vibrant community of senior athletes; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh proudly acknowledges the exceptional dedication and achievement of the Senior Women's softball team, 50 Cent, and extends heartfelt congratulations on their remarkable victory in securing the Nation...
