Resolution providing for the continuation of the Clean Pittsburgh Commission in accordance with the Pittsburgh Code, Title One, Administrative, Article IX-Boards, Commissions and Authorities, Chapter 180, Clean Pittsburgh Commission, Section 180.05: Reauthorization of the Commission.
Body
Whereas, it is in the best interest of any community to maintain a clean healthy environment in its business districts and residential neighborhoods as it speaks to the quality of life of a community; and
Whereas, in order to promote, coordinate, and fund efforts to maintain a litter free and attractive living environment, a focused effort is required by citizens, institutions and government; and,
Whereas, the people of the City of Pittsburgh expressed their desire to improve the overall quality of life in their city. Citizens have historically supported coordinated efforts to eradicate blight, clean city lots and streets, plant community gardens, sponsor murals, and recycle products from plastics to newsprint in that effort; and,
Whereas, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh officially adopted Ordinance 28, effective 8-8-2005, setting forth the composition, functions, and reporting requirements of the Commission; and
Whereas, in accordance with Section 180.05 the Council is required to authorize continuation.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. City Council hereby authorizes continuation of the Clean Pittsburgh Commission in accordance with the Pittsburgh Code, Title One, Administrative, Article IX-Boards, Commissions and Authorities, Chapter 180, Clean Pittsburgh Commission, Section 180.05: Reauthorization of the Commission, as required by the following language codified in the City Code:
