WHEREAS, Wallace J. Zielinski was born on December 11, 1940 to Joseph and Violet Zielinski. His maternal and paternal grandparents were immigrants from Poland who continued the customs of their native land with their own families, especially during the Easter and Christmas seasons. He continues to live in the same house that his mother and father built in 1952; and
WHEREAS, Wallace graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in 1962 with a BS in Education, he taught in the Cleveland area School District, and after earning a Master's Degree in Math Education from Ohio State University, he began teaching mathematics in the Baldwin-Whitehall School district from which he retired in 1996; and
WHEREAS, Wallace is a very involved parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley, in Donor. Wallace's activities range from Parish Council Financial Board member, Eucharistic Minister, Lecturer and past CCD Instructor. He is also a member of the Bishop Elko Knights of Columbus society having held several positions such as Grand Knight of Council 1941, Fourth Degree Knight and Controller of the Bishop Phelan Council; and
WHEREAS, Wallace is the National President of the Polish Falcons of America, and has served as a trustee for the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, DC, visiting the Holy Father Pope John Paul II in Rome on two occasions enjoying private audiences each time; and
WHEREAS, Wallace J. Zielinski is an active member of the The Kosciuszko Foundation, Polish National Alliance, Polish American Congress serving as Director and National Secretary, the Polish American Congress - Western PA Division holding office of Vice-President, and the Polish Cultural Council; and
WHEREAS, this year on May 6, 2006, the Kosciuszko Foundation will honor Wallace J. Zielinski with the Polonian of the Year Award.
