Title: WHEREAS, Howard Hanna was started on August 7th, 1957 and this month celebrates its 50th Anniversary; and WHEARAS, Howard W. Hanna Jr. and Anne Freyvogel Hanna started the business at the corner of Craig Street and Bayard Street with a one room office and Mr. Hanna as the sole licensee; and WHEARAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hanna raised their family on Bayard Street and all three of their children, Howard W. "Hoddy" Hanna, III, Helen Hanna Casey, and Annie Hanna Cestra, hold executive positions within the company today; and WHEARAS, the Hanna family has ten grandchildren, and four of them have joined the Howard Hanna company; and WHEARAS, Howard Hanna has grown from one office in Shadyside to 120 offices across Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and West Virginia; and WHEARAS, in the 1960's Mr. Hanna helped to expand the real estate community by hiring female sales associates and sponsoring the first African American member of the West Penn Multi-List; and WHEARAS, Howard Hanna has...

WHEREAS, Howard Hanna was started on August 7th, 1957 and this month celebrates its 50th Anniversary; and
 
WHEARAS, Howard W. Hanna Jr. and Anne Freyvogel Hanna started the business at the corner of Craig Street and Bayard Street with a one room office and Mr. Hanna as the sole licensee; and
 
WHEARAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hanna raised their family on Bayard Street and all three of their children, Howard W. "Hoddy" Hanna, III, Helen Hanna Casey, and Annie Hanna Cestra, hold executive positions within the company today; and

WHEARAS, Howard Hanna has contributed to charitable causes such as the Children's Hospital Free Care Fund, Family House Polo Match, the Urban League's first time homeowner educations sessions, the Howard Hanna Healing Garden at the new Children's Hospital, Catholic Charities, and Civic Light Opera.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulates Howard Hanna for 50 successful years and commends Howard Hanna for growing a family business in the Pittsburgh region; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby declares August 7th, 2007, "Howard Hanna Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
