WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Film Office is a non-profit organization that promotes the City of Pittsburgh and the greater southwestern Pennsylvanian region as an excellent location for movie, television, and commercial production; and,

WHEREAS, in 2007, the Pittsburgh Film Office played an important role in supporting the Pennsylvania Film Tax Credit, a program that allows a 25% tax credit to productions that spend at least 60% of the production budget in the Commonwealth; and,
WHEREAS, in 2021, six feature films and five television series were filmed in and around the city, adding more than $175 million into the regional economy; and,
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Film Office celebrates its 32nd Anniversary in 2022. Since its inception in 1990, the Pittsburgh Film Office has assisted with more than 200 feature films and television productions filmed in southwestern Pennsylvania that generated an economic impact of more than $2 billion for the region; and,
WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Film Office is celebrating the Film Industry with its annual fundraising event on Friday, June 3rd at The Pennsylvanian; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Pittsburgh supports the mission of the Pittsburgh Film Office to market and promote the Pittsburgh area which leads to a future with more family sustaining careers in the film industry; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the record-breaking and history-making year of film production in our region; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Friday, June 3, 2022 to be “Pittsburgh Film Office Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
