WHEREAS, on Saturday, October 2, 2004, Comcast Cable Communications and the North Side Leadership Conference took part in National Comcast Cares Day; and
WHEREAS, well over 200 Comcast volunteers spent the day in Pittsburgh's North Side painting, landscaping, and cleaning several different areas; and
WHEREAS, the volunteers painted at the Allegheny YMCA, planted flower gardens at the Aviary, dedicated a flower garden at the N. Federal Street Triangle, and also worked in Allegheny Commons Park; and
WHEREAS, in addition to supplies, professional services, materials, and long hours by the Comcast employees, family members, friends and the Leadership Conference volunteers, the Comcast Foundation donated a check in the amount of $6,025 to the North Side Leadership Conference; and
WHEREAS, the combined efforts of Comcast and the North Side Leadership Conference enhanced the community's presence and brightened the lives of both its clients and staff;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh recognizes the contributions of the North Side Leadership Conference and commends the fine efforts of Comcast Cable Communications for their volunteer work throughout the City of Pittsburgh; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares, Tuesday October 12, 2004 COMCAST CARES DAY in the City of Pittsburgh.
