Title
WHEREAS, Bishop Leonard Saint Mary of the Mount Academy located on Bigham Street in Mount Washington provides Catholic education for kindergarten through eighth grade under the administration of principal Cindy Baldrige; and
WHEREAS, The Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Team of Bishop Leonard Saint Mary of the Mount Academy known as the Mountain Lions have won the Diocesan Class A Championship; and
WHEREAS, under head coach Jim Graff, assistant coaches Nancy Halligan and Chuck Neilson, The Mountain Lions were undefeated in regular season and championship games; and
WHEREAS, team members Taylor Benyp, Erin Byrne, Carly Forse, Alexis Fratangelo, Katie Gestiehr, Devon Graff, Alena Buckvich-Hebson, Mia Buckvich-Hebson, Carissa Jones, Hayley Klein, Christina Neilson, Mickayla Nelson, Amber Ricci, Samantha Schmotzer, Taylor Tokarski, and Erin Waskowiak have achieved this through individual commitment and teamwork; and
WHEREAS, these girls, their families and coaches have followed through with the persistence necessary to achieve this goal and win this championship for themselves and their school;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend The Junior Varsity Mountain Lions Girls Basketball Team of Bishop Leonard Saint Mary of The Mount Academy for their hard work and contribution to The City of Pittsburgh.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 as "Bishop Leonard Saint Mary of Mount Academy Girls Junior Varsity Basketball Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
