REAPPORTIONMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE PRELIMINARY MAP PROPOSAL
RAC to Host Series of Public Briefings to Present Council Reapportionment Map Proposal

March 23, 2022, Pittsburgh, PA- City Council, being elected by district, must every 10 years apportion the districts so that each contains approximately the same number of persons pursuant to the United States Census.

The Reapportionment Advisory Committee (RAC) is a 9-member body appointed by City Council tasked with drafting a council district reapportionment map recommendation to City Council.
Created in September 21 of 2021 via Council resolution, the Committee first convened in October of 2021 and has since held regular meetings.

Adhering to the reapportionment guidelines established by the Pennsylvania Legislature, the RAC approved a draft of the preliminary map on March 15, 2022. The attached map will be presented to the public for feedback in a series of public hearings held on the following dates:

Please note that the first meeting in Council Chambers will offer a hybrid, virtual option for attendance. Individuals can sign up to speak at any of the hearings via the City Clerk's website at https://pittsburghpa.gov/clerk/council-meetings. For those who wish to attend the meeting in Chambers virtually, a zoom link will be provided the day of the hearing after registration takes place.
