WHEREAS, Mr. Bill Marino is honored by family and friends on Saturday, April 15, 2023 in celebration of his 100th birthday; and,

WHEREAS, Bill Marino was born on March 30, 1923 to Michael and Concetta Marino. Bill grew up in the Greenfield and Oakland neighborhoods of the City of Pittsburgh and graduated from Schenley High School in 1941; and,

 

WHEREAS, he is a proud veteran of World War II where he served in Italy and Northern Africa before being assigned to a military police position in the City of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Marino was a Building Inspector for the City of Pittsburgh for many years and was the downtown Building Inspector overseeing the building of most of the skyscrapers we now see in the city; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bill was an active member of Central Catholic’s Athletic Association, serving as President for 2 years and served as an usher for over 50 years at St. Philomena and St. Bede Catholic Churches until, he was in his late 90s; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bill and his wife Pat have resided in Greenfield for 63 years. He is father to Dale Ann, Lynn, and Bill. He enjoys his five grandchildren: John, Kristen, Carly, Valerie, and Blaise and his great-grandchild Katerina; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby celebrate Bill Marino on the milestone of his 100th Birthday and thank him for his service to our country and our city; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, March 30, 2023 to be “Mr. Bill Marino Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
