Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate the Pittsburgh Riveters Soccer Club for their historic inaugural season, and support them as they continue to grow and inspire women on and off the field; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, September 3, 2025 to be "Pittsburgh Riveters Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Riveters Soccer Club (SC) was established in 2024 by the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to serve as the women's First Team counterpart to their men's team in the USL Championship, with a vision to grow into a fully professional team in the future; and,

WHEREAS, the Riveters made their official debut on May 16 during the 2025 USL W League season, hosting their first home game at Highmark Stadium before a sold-out crowd of 6,077 fans - the fourth-highest attendance in the stadium's history; and

WHEREAS, the club finished their inaugural season with an impressive record of 6 wins, 1 loss, and 3 draws, securing the Great Forest Division title and advancing to the Central Conference Playoffs; and,

WHEREAS, the team proudly draws powerful inspiration from Rosie the Riveter - a timeless symbol of strength, resilience, and female empowerment during World War II - and seeks to channel that same spirit to unite and inspire a new generation of athletes and supporters; and,

WHEREAS, the Club is led by Head Coach Scott Gibson, who also serves as the Academy Director for the Riverhounds and coaches the ECNL girls' team, along with Assistant Coaches John Rotz and Mike Proviano, and Goalkeeper Coach Reaghan Duval, who is also an assistant coach at Robert Morris University and brings valuable playing and coaching experience from the USL W League; and,

WHEREAS, the Riveters' players, some as young as 15, embody the bold "We Can Do It!" spirit - blazing new trails in Pittsburgh's rich sports history serving as role models and inspiration for young girls and women across the region; and,
