WHEREAS, the Maronite Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Catholic Church, located at 1000 Tropical Avenue, will be hosting its annual Pittsburgh Lebanese Festival from Friday September 9 through Sunday, September 11; and,
WHEREAS, approximately 3 million Americans descending from Lebanese origin live in the United States making up five generations who migrated from Lebanon beginning in the 19th century; and,
WHEREAS, in Lebanon, eating is directly related to family hence the festival will be a fun gathering of family and friends with live entertainment, dancing and of course authentic Lebanese food; and,
WHEREAS, Lebanese food is of Mediterranean origin with a balance of European cuisine and an Arabic influence which forms exotic mouthwatering Lebanese dishes such as Kibbee, Tabbouleh, Grape Leaves, Lamb Kabobs, and Spinach Pies, and delectable desserts such as Baklava; and,
WHEREAS, the Lebanese-American community of Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church has served Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania for more than a century since its founding in 1902; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Our Lady of Victory Maronite Church for their service to the community and their faithfulness to their heritage; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 9-11, 2022, to be "Lebanese-American Days" in the City of Pittsburgh.
