Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mr. Mike Maffeo for his 45 years of service with the City of Pittsburgh and thank him for his dedication and hard work; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, March 31, 2017, to be "Mike Maffeo Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Mike Maffeo began his career with the City of Pittsburgh on April 3, 1972 and is retiring on March 31, 2017, after nearly 45 years of service ; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Maffeo currently works for the Department of Public Works in the Bureau of Transportation and Engineering but came from the City of Pittsburgh’s pulpit, a program for bulk garbage pick-up when he used to be able to buy a sandwich for 15 cents; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Maffeo is known for making the best out of every situation, like the time he was surveying a new park and had to cut down bushes and vines, later finding out that he was covered with poison ivy from head to toe; and,

 

WHEREAS, he is known to many as a genuine, kind-hearted individual always willing to lend a helping hand and is proud to call his co-workers friends; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mike is also known, at least to himself, as the best corn hole player there is, which is why he has been quoted as saying “there’s only one person better than me, and that’s me!” He is so serious about the game that he makes his own boards; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mike will be retiring from work but definitely not from his family; wife Karen and his daughters Jennifer and Kara; and,

 

WHEREAS, he will also be joined with son-in-law George (Jennifer) and a granddaughter and three grandsons, who he will enjoy teaching to hunt and fish during camping trips; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,  that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Mr. Mike Maffeo for his 45 years of service with the City of Pittsburgh and thank him for his dedication and hard work; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, March 31, 2017, to be “Mike Maffeo Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
