Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Transitional Services, Inc. for the outstanding work it does to meet the needs of people with psychiatric and intellectual disabilities and congratulates them for 50 years of exemplary service to the community; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, May 10, 2019, to be "TRANSITIONAL SERVICES, INC. DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Traditional Services, Inc. is a non-profit agency established in 1969 which has been providing housing and support services designed to meet the needs and preferences of individuals who have psychiatric or intellectual disabilities. It emerged in 1969 as a one-of-its-kind agency providing services to assist individuals with mental illnesses leaving state hospitals as they transitioned into the community; and,

 

WHEREAS, with more than ninety qualified staff and volunteers providing invaluable services to this underserved population, Transitional Services, Inc. provides residential and community rehabilitative services to over 500 individuals yearly, operating ten residences, six within the City of Pittsburgh. They work in partnership with individuals in the communities to help clients gain skills, access resources, establish community connections and support their recovery; and,   

 

WHEREAS, to celebrate 50 years of exceptional service, Transitional Services, Inc. will hold their Anniversary Gala and Fundraiser on Friday, May 10, 2019, at PNC Park’s Hyundai Club with Mike and Judi Radley as Honorary Co-Chairs. This event will serve to raise funds and awareness and celebrate the growth of Transitional Services, Inc. since its creation in 1969 by its founder, Orville “Bud” Royer; and,
