Whereas, the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, Office of Minority Affairs will host its inaugural Minority Alumni Reunion April 16 to April 18, 2004; and
Whereas, all University of Pittsburgh Minority Alumni form the United States and abroad have been invited of return to campus to rekindle old friendships, refresh existing ones and revisit the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine of today and tomorrow; and
Whereas, in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the School of Medicine's Office of Students Affairs/Minority Programs, past Minority Affairs founding dean William Wallace, Ph.D. and former deans Crolyn Carter, Ph.D., Nancy Washington, Ph.D. and Ella Wevster, M.D. have been invited to attend and enjoy the opportunity to visit with students they helped to become the physicians they are today; and
Whereas, the weekend agenda includes a jazz reception, tours of the School of Medicine and Manchester Craftsman's Guild and the Student National Medical Association's annual Carol M. Carter Scholarship banquet with a keynote address by M. Jocelyn Elders, M.D., former U.S. Surgeon General;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh congratulate the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, Office of Minority Affairs Medical Alumni Association and all graduates and hereby proclaims Saturday, April 17, 2004 as University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine, Minority Alumni Day.
