WHEREAS, Hello Bully is a volunteer Pit Bull rescue and advocacy group, active at local shelters, helping shelter dogs in need, out of the kindness of their hearts, and the passion to help Pit Bulls in service to the greater Pittsburgh area; and
WHEREAS, Hello Bully's mission to rescue, rehabilitate and repair the reputation of the American Pit Bull Terrier, through rescue, community outreach, education, spay/neuter and responsible ownership; and
WHEREAS, since 2009, Hello Bully has maintained "Pit Fix Plus" Pittsburgh's only free Pit Bull spay/neuter and vaccine program, averaging a rate of more than a dog a day, spaying and neutering almost 1,800 owned pit bulls in the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS, Hello Bully's "Pit Bull 101" community educational program is suitable for all ages and is available to interested groups and organizations at no cost; and
WHEREAS, Hello Bully's "Pit Bull Academy" training seminars bring the benefits of private training to the community for free - lessening the chance that these dogs will be surrendered to shelters due to lack of training; and
WHEREAS, in the summer of 2011, Hello Bully purchased a property in Cranberry Township, PA, where they are now operating "Hello Bully's Halfway House," taking in homeless Pit Bulls and adopting them into loving homes; and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum, the community gathered to celebrate Hello Bully's 5th Annual Lovers not Fighters Gala, for an evening to benefit pit bull rescue, "speuter" and education;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor the important work of Hello Bully and its dedicated contributions to rescue, rehabilitate and repair the reputation of the American Pit Bull Terrier and does hereby declare, February 16, 2013, to be "Hello Bully Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
