WHEREAS, Teri Grendzinski began her career with the National Aviary on August 4, 1993 as an Animal Care Keeper, providing daily care for nearly 400 birds and successfully hand-rearing numerous species including Red-fronted Macaws and Superb Starlings, quickly becoming a valued team member; and,
 
WHEREAS, in 1998, Teri transitioned to the Education Department as Animal Encounters Coordinator, where she trained birds for educational programs, managed volunteers, and inspired students of all ages. She later advanced to Senior Trainer in Avian Encounters, creating and presenting dynamic free-flight shows and indoor bird presentations that delighted and educated countless guests; and,  
 
WHEREAS, from 2010 to 2023, Teri served as Supervisor of Animal Collections, overseeing aviculturists, interns, and volunteers, while launching successful revenue-generating Encounter programs. Now as Volunteer Manager, she has boosted volunteer participation, improved volunteer engagement and transformed the volunteer office into a more welcoming, efficient space; and,
 
WHEREAS, over the course of her career, Teri has achieved numerous accomplishments, including contributing her expertise to international conservation efforts, such as the flamingo crisis in Africa. Beyond her professional achievements, Teri is well known for her devotion to parrots and her ongoing involvement with PEARL Parrot Rescue, ensuring the continued care and advocacy for parrots; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Teri Grendzinski for her outstanding contributions and lifelong commitment to avian care and congratulates her for more than 30 years of service to the National Aviary; and, 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 28, 2025 to be “Teri Grendzinski Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
