WHEREAS, on July 8-10, more than 150 construction safety and health professionals will meet in the City of Pittsburgh for the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) 2015 Annual Safety & Health Committee Conference <https://www.agc.org/learn/education-training/events/agc-safety-and-health-committee-conference>; and,
WHEREAS, the AGC is the leading association for the construction industry, representing more than 26,000 firms; and,
WHEREAS, the conference will showcase new safety training programs and products, and attendees will receive updates on the latest initiatives from Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and other industry experts; and,
WHEREAS, the AGC chose Pittsburgh thanks to the safety image that regional commercial contractors have built over the years. The Master Builders’ Association was among the first trade associations in the country to emphasize safety and hire a full-time safety expert, even before the federal government launched OSHA in 1971; and,
WHEREAS, The MBA and the Constructors Association of Western PA (CAWP) are co-hosting the conference, which unites construction industry professionals to participate in the development of regulatory and legislative activity on national and local levels.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the commitment of the Associated General Contractors of America and the 2015 Safety and Health Committee Conference to the safety and health practices vital for the success of the construction industry; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, July 8, 2015, “ACG Safety and Health Committee Conference Day.”
