Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare August 31, 2014 to be “Father Don Buchleitner Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

BODY  
WHEREAS,   Father Donald Buchleitner  was born and raised in Pittsburgh and entered priesthood from Saint Joseph Parish in Duquesne; in 1996, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Athenaeum of Ohio located in Cincinnati; received a Master of Divinity degree from Saint Mary Seminary in Baltimore and was ordained in 1970; and,                       
WHEREAS, Father Don has served the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh for 44 years and has served as Pastor for Holy Innocents Parish for 28 years and in October of 2000, Father Don lead the Parish in its Centennial Celebration; and,
WHEREAS, while at Holy Innocents, Father Don simultaneously Pastored Guardian Angels Parish for approximately the last 5 years; and,
WHEREAS, in 1991, he signed an agreement establishing Elizabeth Seton School, which is a reorganization of Holy Innocents, St James and St. Martin Elementary Schools; and,
WHEREAS,  prior to serving in the West End, Father Don has served as Parochial Vicar at St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Beaver County, All Saints Parish in Etna, Saint Rosalia Parish in Greenfield and Nativity Parish in Broughton, South Park; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Zubik has formally given Father Don permission to begin retirement effective September 2, 2014; and,  
WHEREAS, during his retirement, he wishes to help other priests in their parishes; and,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,  that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby acknowledge and commend Father Donald Buchleitner for his service to the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh and wish him well during his retirement years; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare August 31, 2014  to be "Father Don Buchleitner Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.
